Thank you for supporting me - and Housing Works - as I participate in the BRAKING AIDS Ride for a third time. As challenging as BRAKING AIDS® Ride will be, it's nothing compared to the daily struggle that people living with HIV face each day. Your donation will go right to work providing housing, medical and mental health services, and advocacy on behalf of people living with HIV/AIDS.
In case you're wondering what's new since a year ago when you last heard from me regarding BRAKING AIDS, Housing Works has been busy!
We've started a harm reduction program for clients who want to reduce their tobacco use
We've lobbied, rallied, and got arrested (see my photo) to make sure NYers who use drugs have access to safe consumption sites
We've stopped the republican congress from overturning the Affordable Care Act
We've gotten over 300 clients into a program to treat their Hepatitis C
We served over 1200 clients living with HIV in our clinics last year
We continue to provide supportive housing to over 200 individuals, including our newest housing for LGBT youth
For the first time, we have the tools to end the AIDS crisis. With new tools and new political will – and the ongoing leadership of Housing Works – we have a plan in place to end AIDS as an epidemic in New York State by 2020. And it’s not just New York: the United Nations has established 2030 as its target date to bring global infection rates below epidemic levels.
These are real goals backed by real science. If achieved, they will change the course of history. But they will only happen with your help.
Your generous donation is fully tax-deductible. If your company has a matching gift program, you can multiply your gift by taking an extra moment to provide the information needed.
